Brigid Lowe is a writer from Ynys Môn. She has a doctorate from Oxford and, as an academic at the universities of Sheffield and Cambridge, published a book and many essays on the art of fiction. Her first novel, The Bloody Branch, a botanical-feminist-ecogothic retelling of part of the Mabinogion, will be published by Harvill Secker in January 2026. She lives in Edinburgh with her three children and their phones.
